Looking at the beauty of two peaks in the sky far from the road, it seems that they have reached heaven. While walking a few steps, some tourists rush to mule and get here. The climate here is especially pleasant.
Tungnath is a very well-known temple among Hindu pilgrims around the world, which is located in Uttarakhand state of India. Tungnath is a part of Panch Kedar Temples(Kedarnath, Madhmeshwar, Tungnath, Rudranath and Kalpeshwar) that comes in third place. Most people only know Kedarnath, but all these Kedar Dham are equally important.
Chandrashila is 1 km from the Tungnath temple, but climbing is very difficult. Many times, people return alone from Tungnath. Due to the snowfall, the road becomes even more slippery. There is a temple of Mata Ganges in Chandrashila, and from here you can see the Nanda Devi Himalayan peaks covered with snow. The peak can be clearly seen from here.
When to visit and how to reach Tungnath and Chandrashila
From March to November is the right time to visit here. Although it can come at any time, but due to the high snow in the winter, the path closes. And its too much colder in winter season. So, Tourists do not like to visit here during the month of December to February.
There are two ways to get here
1. Gopeshwar from Rishikesh 212 km, and Gopeshwar to Chopta 40 KM.
2. Rishikesh from Ukhimath 183 km, and Ukhimath to Chopta 25 km. Regular bus service is available from Rishikesh to Gopeshwar. Further, bus and sharing jeep and private taxi can also be visited. The nearest railway station is Haridwar which is connected to all parts of the country. The nearest airport is at Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun.
