Char Dham Yatra is a pilgrimage tour which is devoted to the four well-known places of Hindu devotion. All the four pilgrimage destinations are situated in Himalayan mountain range of Uttrarakhand. It is believed that a journey during the lifetime made to these pilgrim places washes away all the sins of a human being.
The four famous destinations of Char Dham Yatra are Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. Badrinath is devoted to Lord Vishnu, Kedarnath to Lord Shiva, Yamunotri to Goddess Yamuna and Gangotri to Goddess Ganga.

The holy Chardham yatra start from April-May and continues till Oct-Nov every year. April to June is the best time for Char Dham Yatra, as you can enjoy the picturesque beauty of the atmosphere with most comfortable weather and climate.
Note: Char Dham Temple are open for 6 months only. During winters the temples are closed and unreachable due to heavy snowfall. Now, Govt is planning to support Winter Char Dham during winters.

Yamunotri Temple – The Yamunotri place of worship Kapat (Gate) opens on Akshaya Tritiya and close down on Yama Dwitiya day every year.
Gangotri Temple – The Gangotri place of worship Kapat (Gate) opens on Akshaya Tritiya day and closes with the beginning of the Diwali celebration.
Kedarnath Temple – The opening and shutting of the Kapat(Gate) of Kedarnath place of worship is chosen by sanctuary board of trustees upon the arrival of Maha Shivratri. For the most part, the place of worship closes on the Yama Dwitiya day (the day following Diwali ) every year.
Badrinath Temple – if there should be an occurrence of the Badrinath place of worship, the Kapat (Gate) opening date is chosen the event of Basant Panchami by head cleric every year while the end date is chosen by Mandir advisory group on the event of Vijayadashami every year.
